Urban Movement Arts (UMA) welcomes adults of all ages and experience levels. We guide movers and dancers to develop true connection to community and style. Our programs and classes bring out the joy of discovering new ways of being and moving in the world. UMA has lots of Hip Hop flavor with the structure of a holistic martial arts community. We are dedicated to supporting strength, flexibility and overall physicality to promote creativity and adaptability in dance and in life.

Solo Salsa Femme
Solo Salsa Femme is our Monday night class for all that want to vibe out dancing the Femme stylings of American Style Rhythm Ballroom, but without a partner. Get ready to move your hips and groove through elements of Salsa, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Samba and more. This class is a sure way to feel sexy, inspired and worked out. Come get down with Laurel!
Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:00-9:00pm
Capo-Flow is Ron Wood's signature class that will either test your athleticism or is your gateway to becoming a more capable athlete. The class combines elements of capoeira, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, karate, dance and gymnastics. Capo-Flow is great for anyone who wants to sweat and awaken muscles that they didn't even know they had. Come in ready to be challenged. You move in all planes and in a variety of ways: on your feet, on your hands, on the ground, right side up, horizontally and upside down. You'll jump, crawl, kick, roll and much more. Ron teaches new-comers fundamentals for growing their practice. For more experienced movers, he doesn't hesitate to test where you are and what you know. Class is loads of fun, you'll work your ass off with the exercises, but the laughter will have you burning some calories too. Get strong with Mr. Ron in your corner! Classes are Tuesdays and Fridays, 8:00-9:00pm (most of the time running 15min or more past 9pm: that's just how we get down!)

UMA's own Lily Kind & Mark "Metal" Wong have a made a solo show for people who secretly don't like solo shows. Metal and Kind are both multidisciplinary powerhouses working in and around social and folk dance, devised dance theater, and experimental storytelling. Metal is unexpectedly soft. Kind is unabashedly sharp. Together, they present a collage of new solo work designed for folks secretly underwhelmed by new solo work.
This show is about 88% family friendly. But we reserve the right to moon our audience at any time. And to swear (gently).
Please buy your tickets directly from us, HERE.

UMA invites dancers of any skill level to come together and enjoy the energy of Latin music and dance. We will transform our dance studio into a candlelit dancehall including a BYOB bar.
The evening will begin with a group salsa lesson and bachata lesson from Laurel Card and then, once acquainted with the moves, all dancers are welcome to dance the night away to Latin Rhythms and more.
