SERIES
available for purchase in 6, 8 or 12 week cycles depending on class.
Series are not included in memberships. See the homepage for the latest on series start dates.
Beginner Salsa Partnering
This 8 week series is for the absolute beginner or those who need to improve their foundation. We’ll start with the basic salsa steps, timing, footwork, and how to lead and follow. The series will then progress into the creation of more challenging and complex turn patterns, giving the student enough material to ultimately go out social dancing. This series will be split into two parts: Part 1 will focus on the fundamentals of steps, timing, and partnering, while Part 2 will focus on increasingly complex patterns. No partner is required to take this course, and each class is 1 hour.
CLASS TIMES:
Part 1 will take place over the first four weeks of the series at 2PM on Sundays.
Part 2 will take place over the second four weeks of the series at 3PM on Sundays.
Bachata Partnering
Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic but is danced world wide. This hour-long class will give you a solid Bachata foundation: basics, timing, dance positions, footwork, leading and following. This course is designed to progress and build each week. All levels welcome, and no partner is required to take this course.
CLASS TIMES: Monday 7:30 PM
Advanced Beginner Salsa Partnering
This hour-long class will build on the Salsa On 1 Style basics learned in the beginner series. This class includes much more challenging patterns and combinations. We will work on leading & following techniques, styling and how to add these into your Salsa turn patterns. The only requirement is that you have completed the 8 week beginner series (preferably a few times) and have a good foundation and understanding of timing, know how to lead/follow inside and outside turns, cross-body leads, as well as combinations using these tools. No partner is required to take this class.
CLASS TIMES: Sunday 4PM
Lindy Hop Fundamentals *
Lindy Hop is danced with a partner to classic big band music, swampy New Orleans jazz , or even Motown. Ragtag encourages new dancers to choose to learn either leading or following (regardless of gender). No partner necessary for class; all our classes rotate partners constantly.
Intermediate-ish Lindy Hop
The Ragtag Team brings you the need to know skills and drills to keep advancing your dancing. PREREQUISITE: 2 cycles of Beginner Lindy or the equivalent. Students must know: 8 ct and 6 ct basics, swings outs, tuck turns, sugar pushes, jig kicks, and be familiar with basic solo jazz moves. Intermediate Lindy is designed for dancers who social dance regularly (once a week or more.) If you're not sure of your level, we can asses on the first day of class.
