UMA Groove Collective is a performance training program that focuses on developing capacity in foundational forms of street dance, ranging from locking, popping, breaking, house and hip hop.
The program presents two different training levels. Level 2 is designed for students with strong aptitude in the above forms. Level 1 is designed for students who are advanced beginners through intermediates. All groups will have the opportunity through the year to perform, refine movement ability, and hone in on performance skills. Dancers that participate in this program receive many benefits from this program, ranging from growth as community dancers to receiving pre-professional prep for concert and commercial industry dance work.
Marcus Tucker is the artistic director of UMA Groove Collective. Marcus is a world renown educator and practitioner of street dance, most recognized for his leadership of The Hood Lockers. Marcus has performed in a number of contexts ranging from theater to television. In UMA Groove Collective he will share 20+ years of knowledge to support dancers’ artistic and cultural development applying to street dance performance.
We are committed to providing a supportive and collaborative learning environment where dancers of all levels can develop their performance qualities, refine their artistry, and unlock their full potential as movers on the stage

Open Auditions/ Level Placements
Placement Process Experience/ Mock Audition
Submit a Video to Audition
Placement process will determine who gets placed in what level.
We are evaluating based on effort and ability to execute choreography, technique of the focused forms, adaptability, awareness of space, and this student questionnaire.
This experience is meant to simulate how a traditional Audition would go, we do not want to turn anyone away, but we only have the capacity/resources to fill each level to 20-25 participants.
If people want to enroll into the program at a later date it would be by case by case or invite only basis if space permits that.
Level Upgrades throughout the season would come from leadership otherwise students would wait until the next open placement process
