Parkour is a sport in which athletes practice moving from one point to another as efficiently as possible. It features elements of obstacle course maneuvering, gymnastics, martial arts, climbing, running, jumping and more.
It is a great form of exercise for adults, while also supporting the increase of mobility, coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
Our lead instructor, Liam, has this to say:
My Philosophy with teaching is to approach movement in a way that makes it digestible, less intimidating, and fun. Rather than aiming to create top-level athletes, I want to create an environment that makes people feel safe and comfortable learning these movements casually without pressure.
There are many benefits to practicing parkour and we want our students to have many positive takeaways, such as increased confidence, coordination, strength, and balance. We want our students to take away a newfound confidence in themselves and their capability. We want them to be able to use the problem-solving skills they learn in this class to be able to cultivate new skills.
In class we practice Jumping/landing with proper form, balancing, Vaulting, learning how to fall safely, and using light strength-based exercises to build into movements.
